[COSMETIC GLOSSARY : pH]

pH (potential hydrogen) measures a solution's acidity or alkalinity. It is measured on a scale from 0 to 14.

A neutral pH is a pH of 7 (over 7 it's a basic pH and under it's an acidic one).
Skin has a slightly acidic pH of 5.5 that enables the hydrolipidic film to ensure a natural defense against bacterias' development.  

To ensure a good affinity with the skin, Guérande Cosmetics' pH is established at 5.5.
