THE MARSHES LIFE : SUMMER IS COMING !

The beautiful season will soon be here and numerous birds come to stay now on the Guérande peninsula’s Salt marshes : terns, sandpipers, stilts, black-tailed godwits, avocets, …

In June, the first grains of salt appear. They are the reward for the preparatory work done during the spring by the salt farmers. Amongst other things, their know-how enables them to correctly manage the water levels.

Then, to harvest the grey coarse salt, they push the water with a “las” : the waves gently push the salt to the foot of the “ladure” . This summer harvest, as every year, is conditioned by the presence of the sun, the wind and the rain.

For Guerande Cosmetics, June is also the perfect time to harvest the green glassworth. This plant has the capacity to maintain its moisturization in saltwater environment and we will transcribe these moisturizing and restructuring properties for the skin in the gentle micellar lotion, the revitalizing face mask, the isotonic shower gel, the firming gel and the beauty hand cream.
